For your fly fishing trip, it’s essential to bring appropriate clothing for varying weather conditions, a valid fishing license, personal fishing gear if you have it (Waders, Hip Boots or Wading Shoes), and any snacks or drinks you may want. Our guides will provide the necessary fly rods, reels, leaders, flies, water and a sandwich lunch.

What is the best time for fly fishing in the Shenandoah National Park and George Washington National Forest for native Brook Trout?
The best time for fly fishing in Shenandoah National Park is typically from mid-March to early fall. During these months, the weather is pleasant, and brook trout are most active, providing excellent fishing opportunities for enthusiasts. Please note, we pay close attention to water levels and your experience. The fishing in these streams becomes very difficult for beginners once the water levels drop (typically late June, July and August).
Are there age restrictions for participants?
There are no strict age restrictions for participants in our guided fly fishing trips. For our On-the-Stream Schools, we recommend that participants be at least 12 years old to ensure they can handle the equipment and enjoy the experience. Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
